Why Give Green Gifts?

Each holiday that rolls around everyone feels obliged to shop til they drop finding the perfect gift for the special people in their life. So, while everyone loves a gift, the whole consumer process, over packaging and wasteful disposal is just not Earth friendly. This year, when the holiday season comes upon you, consider how you can give a green gift that will thrill recipients and help the planet. This is obviously more than just choosing a gift that comes in eco-friendly packaging, it has to do with the gift itself.
Maybe it's a poem, or helping a friend with a tough project...either way, your goal is to give a thoughtful, useful gift that has a low impact on the planet. If you don't know what type of gift to give, it's ok to give a gift card. However, if you are a handy person consider making something yourself, from delicious seasonal jellies and jams to a hand knit scarf. Some other ideas to consider are reusable shopping bags, rechargeable batteries, solar powered kits and lights, and a nice water bottle.
