Organic Farm Internships

If you are passionate about organic farming and want to learn more about what it's like to actually live and work on an organic farm, consider organizing an internships. There are many organizations that bring together the tools and contacts for people to find an organic farm in their location of choice and contact them for a work exchange. Work exchange means that you will work a set amount of hours per week helping on the farm in exchange for your room and board there.
One of the most popular organizations is the World Wide Opportunities for Organic Farmers (WOOF) that works to link volunteers with organic farms and growers. How it works: become a WOOF member for a small fee and have access online to organic farms all over the world. Contact them to find out if they need help and for what period and then sign on for 4 to 6 hours of help in exchange for a full day's food and accommodation. The tasks you may help out with can vary: harvesting grapes, pruning, composting, cooking, feeding animals, bread making...the list is endless. WOOFing is a fantastic way to learn more about alternative lifestyles and meet interesting people as you travel around the world.
