Should Students Bring Gadgets to School ?
In public schools around India and other parts of the world there is a new trend that pushes students to bring technological gadgets to the classroom. When once smartphones and cellular phones were banned at schools, today they may be having a turn around. Educational institutes encourage students to bring laptops, iPads, tablets and smartphones into the classroom and to integrate them into the daily lesson.
They are slowly replacing paper and pencil, and even chalkboards. In Delhi, India students are asked to bring their technology of choice in with them at least 3 times a week. The theory behind this is to be sure that students are proficient in the use of said technology. Other schools offer wireless Internet access in the classroom. Now the new debate that arises is that if it's necessary to monitor students online activities and block them from using sites like Facebook, Whatsapp and more. How can students be taught a judicious use of the internet? Is it possible or correct for the schools
