Will Credit Cards Make You a Bad Person?
Once a cashless society, where physical money is no longer used, seemed impossible, today thanks to credit cards it has become a reality. In the 1970s, in the USA, 80% of Americans didn't have a credit card, today 80% of American do have a credit card. We can all agree that when we have a card and no cash it's a hassle if you go somewhere that doesn't accept them. Our relationship to money and ourselves is complex. Credit has the added incentive that we rarely spend within the limits of what we actually earn, with credit cards its possible to use our expected earnings today.
This is difficult for anyone to manage, but the powerful consumer mentality that exists in the USA makes it even more confusing. It's starting to be proven that credit cards make people more irresponsible because they make it so easy to buy things. They also make us forgetful, as its no longer necessary to count our money and certainly not to stick to one's budget. Since we can easily access our indulgences and desires, credit cards are also making Americans fat!
